Cottage Garden, Kingswood, Gloucestershire
This job involved a small, south facing cottage garden. During lockdown my client realised that their view of the garden from the adjacent conservatory was very important to them, and that there was scope to improve it. After visiting site is was apparent that it was not appropriate to suggest a wholesale clearance; the garden already had a really lovely, secluded character with lots of positive features. Instead, the design works with what is there to enhance its existing character. New paths and a second seating area have been added to invite exploration of the space, and a number of incidental features such as decorative screens, rose arches and a small bubble fountain, have been incorporated to add focal points and interest in all directions.
